On the evening of 16 August, Fulham Cemetery Friends placed a moth trap in the south meadow. This uses an ultraviolet lamp to attract moths, where they shelter in the dark container on egg cartons. Leaflets were distributed to neighbouring houses to make them aware of a light in the cemetery overnight. Thanks very much to the H&F Council Climate team for the loan of the moth trap.
The moth trap was opened at 8am on Sunday morning. We counted a total of 38 moths, of approx. 14 species. (10 so far conclusively identified on iNaturalist.) Also 3 caddisflies, a crane fly, and an orange ladybird.
